- 7 Thanckes Close Torpoint Cornwall PL11 2RA
Torpoint, Cornwall
Tamara House was purpose built in 1990, it was acquired from the previous owners in June 2010 by Karlyon Care Ltd. Tamara has a prominent position in the town with beautiful views from many of the bedrooms and lounges over either the river Tamar or the fields and town towards Mount Edgcombe. It has easy access to the town centre with all of its facilities and shops and is either a short walk or an even shorter bus ride. The Torpoint Ferry, again a short distance from the home, allows access to the city of Plymouth. The home has 28 en-suite bedrooms situated on the first and second floors of the Home. There is a tea room, a cinema room and a hairdressing salon. All floors are serviced by a lift so that less mobile residents still have access to all areas of the Home.
Tamara’s ground floor has a Day Centre which is open Monday to Friday. The Day Centre, is manned by our own staff and visitors are welcome to attend at very competitive rates. It has proven to be very successful especially allowing residents at Tamara to meet up with old friends who now attend the Day Centre it really is a Home away from Home.

Tamara boasts a plethora of amenities including several lounges, dining areas and assisted baths on every floor including the ground floor for persons attending the Day Centre.
Tamara also has activities co-ordinators who provides a varied programme of activities and on Wednesday afternoons they run the tea shop which is open to all. Tamara has various ‘open days’ for visitors to attend and meet both residents and staff, we also invite relatives to come and have lunch with their family members which can be facilitated at a small cost and with notice to cook.
As with our other homes the care is provided via a person centred ‘Care Plan’ which together with the ‘Key Worker’ system ensures that residents have their own ‘carer’ to relate to.
